Located in the Buckeye Hills Regional Park, 10.5 miles south of I-10 Exit 112 on SR 85.  The turn-off for the range is immediately after Mile Marker 144.

FEE PAYMENT OPTIONS

Credit/Debit cards ONLY are accepted for payment of fees and merchandise at the General Joe Foss Shooting Complex.

ITEMS PROVIDED

Cardboard-backed target frame and tape for your target.

 

  • Users may bring their own paper targets
  • Steel targets are not allowed
  • Targets may also be purchased at the range from the Retail Store and Check-In located inside the Main Building, if necessary.

COMPLIMENTARY SHOOTING CARDS:

Persons having complimentary “Good for One Day of Shooting” cards must present their card to the Clerk in the Main Range’s Store upon arrival at the range.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE & RENTAL AT THE RANGE:

For Purchase: Targets, Eye Protection, Ear Protection, Chamber Flags, Batteries,

For Rental: Spotting Scopes, Lead Sled, Gun Cases

CONCESSIONS

The facility does have a drink vending machine in the retail store. The machine contains soft drinks and water – no food or snack items are available to date.

RESERVATIONS

We neither take nor require reservations.  Range lane availability is based on a first-come-first-served basis.

Range Rules

WHILE ON THE RANGE EYE AND EAR PROTECTION ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES!

ALL FIREARMS MUST BE CASEDIf you do not have a case for your firearm they may be rented in the Store. Upon arrival, leave the firearm in your vehicle and proceed to the Store to rent a case.

For safety purposes, the number of lanes available on a given day will be contingent upon the number of NRA-certified Joe Foss Shooting Complex (JFSC) Volunteer Range Safety Officers (RSOs) we have scheduled for that day.

First time shooters will be asked to watch a safety and instruction video when they visit the Joe Foss Shooting Range.

FIREARMS/AMMO ALLOWED:

  • All calibers except 50 BMG
  • Full Auto is permitted
  • Binary Triggers are permitted.
  • .223 / 5.56x45mm Green Tip M855 62-grain ammo is permitted.
  • Shotguns are allowed to shoot slugs (only); birdshot and buckshot are not allowed on the Main Range or Training Range

AMMO EXCLUDED:

  • No armor piercing
  • No incendiary
  • No tracer
  • No exploding ammo
  • No birdshot on the Main Range or Training Range
  • No buckshot is allowed on the Main Range or Training Range

No more than two persons are allowed at a shooting bench.

Non-shooting observers must pay the range fee to be on the range.

Drawing and shooting from a holster is not permitted unless you are an approved member and on a designated lane.
